Courses are designed to address the learning needs of social workers, counselors, psychologists, other mental health professionals, teachers and peers from beginner to advanced levels unless otherwise noted.

Payment, Registration and Purchase Order Policy:

PAYMENT IS REQUIRED IN ADVANCE.  Registration fee includes course materials and morning refreshments  for in-person events (varies per location). Upon completing registration, you will receive a Thank You email with helpful links.  However, registration is not complete and space is not reserved until payment is processed and you receive a second confirmation email from BHM.  Both the Thank You and registration confirmation will be sent to registrants via email address provided. Please provide a reliable email and phone #.  If you do not receive a confirmation email within 2 weeks of registering, please check your spam or junk email folder first.  If you are unable to locate a confirmation email, please notify BHM via email: [email protected].  Access to training event will not be permitted and certificate will NOT be issued unless payment is rendered in full.

•May I pay in person onsite?  NO, registration and payment may only be submitted online.

•May I pay with a check?  NO, checks or e-checks are not accepted at this time.

Purchase OrdersEffective 2020, BHM NO LONGER accepts Purchase Orders (PO’s).  When you register and pay in full online, you will be able to print a receipt.  You can then submit that receipt to your employer for reimbursement.  There will be NO exceptions for PO’s.

Cancellation Policy:

PAYMENT IS REQUIRED IN ADVANCE. Registration is not complete and space is not reserved until payment is processed and you receive a second confirmation email from BHM. Please provide a reliable email and phone # when registering.  If you are unable to attend a training event, you must notify BMH promptly. ALL cancellation notifications must be made via email: [email protected]; type “Refund Request” in the subject line. The refund request email must be submitted ONE WEEK (7 DAYS) PRIOR TO DATE OF EVENT. After such date, cancellations, “no-shows”, full/partial attendance will NOT be eligible for a refund.  ALL REFUNDS ARE SUBJECT TO A $15.00 (FIFTEEN DOLLAR) PROCESSING FEE.  Substitutions are not allowed for virtual courses.

In the event BHM must cancel, postpone, modify or reschedule an event for any unforeseen reason, registrants will be notified promptly. Therefore, please provide an email that you can access easily and a reliable phone # when registering.

In the event of an emergency or inclement weather, BHM will place a recorded message on BHM voicemail an hour before any scheduled event (this varies depending on course start time).  Please call 908.300.8532 before you depart for an event.  If there is no special message then event will run as scheduled.  In addition, BHM may also attempt to reach registrants via email or phone, place signage at training venue or post an announcement on the BHM website whenever possible.

Inclement Weather/Emergency:

If you are uncertain if a training event is being held, please call 908.300.8532 before you depart for an event.  If the training is cancelled, a recorded message will indicate so an hour before the event start time; if there is no special message then event will run as scheduled.

In addition to a recorded message, BHM will also attempt ANY of the following whenever possible:
•Post announcement on the SCROLLING BANNER on the BHM Website
•Place signage at training venue
•Notify registrants via email or phone; please provide an email you can easily access and A reliable phone # when registering

Certificates for in-person courses:

Certificates will be distributed at the end of the workshop unless otherwise noted. In order to obtain the certificate, participants must stay for the entire workshop as evidenced by signing in/out, and completing/submitting a course evaluation at the end of the training event.

Certificates for virtual or self-study courses:

Participants must be present for the duration of event, answer all roll calls, complete a Course Evaluation and pass a Post-Test with a  score of 80% or better to be issued a Certificate of Completion that will be sent via email about 2 weeks from full completion.  CE’s are approved as noted in CE’s.

CE’s:

CE’s are approved as noted.  Most courses approved for NJ LCSW/LSW/LPC/LAC/LCADC/CADC/LMFT and similar PA credentials via approvals issued by NASW-NJ. The Mandatory Legal Standards 3 hour course is approved by ADCC.  CE’s are also approved for NY LMSWs & LCSWs via approved provider #0443, effective 4.1.17.  CE credit hours vary by course.  Certificates are issued for the type and # of CE credit hours specified.  “Partial credit” will not be granted. Participants are required to be present for the duration of training and must sign in at the beginning of the workshop then out at the end of the workshop.  CE credit hours are approved as noted for each Board specified. Participants interested in any other credential or Board that is not pre-approved will need to inquire directly with such Board. Participants are provided with workshop descriptions, objectives and certificates of attendance to facilitate the process of applying for renewal credit with their respective Boards.

Behavioral Health Matters, LLC is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0443.  Therefore, ALL courses noted below and on the Training Page are also approved for NY LMSWs & LCSWs effective 4.1.17.  

The Culture of Bullying and What CAN Be Done, Approval #202610-1531A, provided by Behavioral Health Matters is approved for continuing education by the New Jersey Social Work Continuing Education Approval Collaborative, which is administered by NASW-NJ. CE Approval Collaborative Approval Period: November 25, 2020 through August 31, 2022. New Jersey social workers will receive 3 Clinical or Social & Cultural Competence CE credits for participating in this course.

Music, Culture and Social Issues, Approval #211205-904, provided by Behavioral Health Matters, is approved for continuing education by the New Jersey Social Work Continuing Education Approval Collaborative, which is administered by NASW-NJ. CE Approval Collaborative Approval Period: July 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022. New Jersey social workers will receive 3 Clinical or Social & Cultural Competence CE credits for participating in this course.

Shame:  The Master Emotion, Approval # 211205-837, provided by Behavioral Health Matters is approved for continuing education by the New Jersey Social Work Continuing Education Approval Collaborative, which is administered by NASW-NJ. CE Approval Collaborative Approval Period: July 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022. New Jersey social workers will receive 6 Clinical or Social & Cultural Competence CE credits for participating in this course.

Mandatory Renewal Legal Standards 3 Hour Course. This 3 CE course has been approved by the NJ Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee (ADCC) according to N.J.A.C. 13:34C-5.2. This 3 CE course is approved for social work continuing education hours in accordance with N.J.A.C. 13:44G-6.4 and is recognized by the New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners.

Waitlist:

If a course reaches capacity, BHM will start a waitlist.  Please notify BHM via phone: 908.300.8532 and email:  [email protected] that you would like to be added to the waitlist.  Type “waitlist – course title” in the subject line.  If space comes available, BHM will notify individuals on the waitlist in the order received.

•May I report to the venue the day of an event if there is a waitlist?  NO, only individuals on the waitlist will be notified if a seat becomes available.

•May I join a virtual course with a colleague?  NO.  The course link and password are only to be used by the registered party.  Anyone not registered for any course will be removed.  Anyone that shares a link will be prohibited from attending BHM events in the future.  Only the registered party is eligible to apply for CE’s.

What if:

•You require a sign language interpreter or have a disability that may require special arrangements?  Please submit a written request along with the completed registration and payment AT LEAST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT. Requests not submitted in a timely manner may not be able to be processed or fulfilled in time for the event.  This request must be submitted via email:  [email protected]. If a representative from BHM does not contact you within 1 week of submitting the request, please call 908.300.8532 to inquire.

Photo & Video:

During initial registration by clicking on “Yes” it indicates registrant consents to have their picture taken and/or be videotaped by Behavioral Health Matters (BHM) staff for use by the Agency.  By doing so, registrant agrees that BHM may release such photograph(s) or video recording(s) for educational, advertising, marketing, and/or promotional purposes.  Registrant grants permission to the rights of use of their image, likeness as recorded on any medium or media format without payment or any other consideration.  Registrant also accepts that their image may be edited, copied, exhibited, published or distributed and waives the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein their likeness may appear.  Registrant also waives any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of their image or recording.  Example:  Participant may appear in photo of presenter.  ALL virtual courses are recorded; registrants may turn off their web-camera without limiting access to the presentation.  The same consent and releases apply to virtual courses.    

Directions & Parking:

Detailed directions and parking information will be sent to registrants in a reminder email prior to any scheduled event.

Venue:

Information about the venue and nearby options for meals will be sent to registrants in a reminder email prior to any event.  Room temperature and preferences vary; therefore it is recommended that you dress in layers to optimize your comfort level.
